Full Version: Looking For A Lovely Calm Dog!
Dogpages forums > Rescue Forums > Homes offered...

Hi I have just lost my collie cross to cancer so not in a rush to get a dog but she had a friend for 8 years and i am sure her friend is missing having her around
The only problem is she only gets on with certain dogs and they mainly have to be calm. We were thinking of either a mongrel or a lab cross breed or golden retriever cross breed may even consider a lurcher as my parents dogs are lurchers.
Live in Cumbria on the coast will travel but don't want to go too far.

I hope you find a friend for your friend.
I am the proud owner of two crazy idiots and got to say, when i read your post title, my first thought was "so am I" lol.gif

The dog we lost was a bit like that sometimes plus she was scared of noises. I never put in that I don't have kids and I have an enclosed garden as well.

Bert would be perfect..

Still looking!

We have Suzie who is an older girl, she only arrived yesterday but still under assessment we think she is a boxer x collie. She is currently at home with me in Liverpool

She is dog friendly
She is cat friendly (in fact she completely ignores them)
She sleeps through the night without a sound.
She is toilet trained
She is a calm placid girl but her tail is still always wagging when she sees you and she does a little skip when she see's her lead wub.gif
She takes treats very gently and knows all of her basic commands!
She has a couple of lumps and bumps and a bit of a flea allergy on her back but the vet will be checking those out after the weekend

Try Irish retriever Rescue

Not all their dogs are on the website so it is worth contacting them.

Hi still hoping to find a doggy.
Sasha21
Anyone got a big soft lab or lab cross or a golden retriever or black retriever and these can be a cross as well. Just want a friend for my lovely girl Holly.

Such a shame you are so far away - this boy is now ready for his home...

I would just suggest you widen your travel distance a bit if you can. Your dream dog may be out there, and when you consider you could own him/her for the next 15-18 years, it's worth travelling to find the right dog.

For instance, there is a little beauty on here called Bertie (http://www.dogpages.org.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=268594&hl=) who sounds ideal. he's in Gloucestershire but from what I can see he's a very special dog indeed.

Good luck with your search anyway. smile.gif

I think your right. I got Holly off dogpages 8 years ago and we went to York for her and she is a great dog. wub.gif

Work colleague is looking to rehome a 4 year old lurcher type female (not been speyed) as work has moved location and the dog is being left all day now. Based in Haslingden, Lancashire. Dog has blue eyes and is largeish, probably 24inch at shoulder. Let me know if you would be interested and I will ask her to contact. smile.gif
Sasha21
Thanks for the offer. But hubby wants to hold out for a lab cross or retriever cross or mongrel I thought he would be alright having a lurcher but he doesn't want one. It doesn't bother me I would have one in an instant but then I love doggies. wub.gif so sorry I wish I could help your friend.

Hiya, I am in desperate need to rehome my boy Achillies, German Shep x collie, black and tan, med haired. Would you be able to help or someone u know perhaps ? Thanks, sam
Sasha21
Hi where are you?Does he got on with other dogs, is he calm, neutered etc? How old is he?
SamCarer83
Hiya, he is very playful when out or if in house he just potteers about or sleeps, he is 6yrs old but hubby says 7yrs old. He is neutered yes and micro chipped also. He loves to play with other dogs when he is out, at first he will pull to go and see them then he will have a sniff at them, wagg his tail and then try and play lol.gif

We are just on the outskirts of Liverpool at the m57/m62 interchange
Sasha21
I do have a dog and my parents have 2 lurchers so he would have to get on with all of them. Can you put a piccy of him on here or not?
Sasha21
At home all day as well only time likely to be left is for shopping and that is for about an hour or two once a week and they would have company of my dog anyway. My hubby takes doggy for walk every morning come rain or shine.
SamCarer83
Not sure how to upload pics?

your rehoming post says he needs a home without other dogs.
SamCarer83
Because I am apprehensive as I haven't of him living with another dog. Only thing anyone can do is introduce him into their home and sees how he gets on
