Image POUND PUPPY RESCUE

When Jayne discovered that puppies born in council pounds were being killed because they could not find homes for them she setup Pound Puppy Rescue. Having rescued the puppies she could not leave the hundreds of adult/ancient dogs and cats, and the kittens at the pounds to die just because they did not have a home to go to. Then she found that breeders would kill their rejects and old breeders so she took those in too. AND then there are the other animals! These pets stay in foster homes looked after by our volunteers in the area around Poole, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Weymouth in Dorset, Andover and Basingstoke in Hampshire until they find a suitable home. Hundreds of healthy dogs are being killed in the UK every week for want of a home. If you think you can help by fostering a dog or cat, or fund raising or just advertising Pound Puppy Rescue in your local shop please phone 0773 6176613 or 01202 623078. We will home a pet outside Dorset, home checks and circumstances permitting. Phone to check what is required from you.

LUCY - Cross breed, neutered female, 5 years approx, small size.

ImageImage

Lucy loves a cuddle and loves to carry a cuddly toy around with her. She is house trained, does not chew and can be left 2-3 hours. She is good with children but not dogs or cats. She is very timid around new people but OK once she gets to know them. She hides when there is any loud noise as in fireworks and loud bangs. She does like to pull on the lead (she may benefit from the use of a Canny Collar) but we are slowly getting her there. We have not tried her off lead due to her dislike of cats and dogs. In all she is a lovely girl and very gentle.

Fostered by Tina in Andover.

Phone 0773 6176613 10am-6pm for more information.

BILLY - Kelpie cross?, neutered male, 10-11 months approx, medium size.

Billy is a wonderful boy who needs a special home. He is very nervous of fast moving men and children and can be known to pull on their sleeves or trouser legs. When given the time to get used to them he will go up to men for a fuss and happily sit with children on the floor or sofa. Billy is microchipped, vaccinated and neutered. He is clean in the house but will want to stop at every tree to check the 'wee-mail' and leave his own message. He is fantastic off lead. Billy needs an understanding home with calm older children that are active with him. Fostered with Jayne.

For more information please call Jayne on 0773 617 6613 between 10am and 6pm.

The dogs in the photo are Peggie (tan), Billy (black), Benny (brown brindle) and Oscar (black with white chest). These four wonderful dogs are all looking for their forever homes. They are all fostered with Jayne. They are all good with other dogs and house/crate trained. For more information about these dogs please call Jayne on 0773 617 6613 between 10am and 6pm.

Long Term Foster wanted for Bow - Staffie cross, neutered female, 9-12 months approx, medium size.

Bow was signed over to council pound and booked to be destroyed before we heard of her. Our vet has carried out extensive tests and has come to the conclusion that she was born with her deformities and neurological problems. Her front legs are bowed and she has a lack of control of her back legs due to a shortened spine and consequential neurological issues.

Bow copes extremely well with her disabilities. She is in no pain, and is undergoing physiotherapy with close vet supervision to monitor her condition. It is going to take an understanding person to take on Bow. I can personally say Bow is an absolute diamond, great with other dogs, cats, kids and will really make someone a very happy owner.

We do not know if her condition will deteriorate or how long she will be able to cope with her condition. We can only hope to find her the best home possible where she has a great life for as long as possible. Due to her condition she needs a home with floors she can grip on i.e. carpet.

Phone 0773 6176613 10am-6pm for more information.

LEXI - Staffie cross?, neutered female, 2-3 years approx, medium size.

Lexi is a local hand in due to personal circumstances. She picks a chooses which dogs she likes. She is great with children and adults. She is a real hog for attention and knows quite a few party tricks. She is in foster with another dog but we do not know about cats yet. She can be cat tested if someone interested has a cat. She is a typical Staffie. She has had a litter of puppies in the past. She is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. She will need a home with someone who knows the breed or is a strong character so they will be able to continue her training. She is really loving and is ready to complete a family.

Lexi is the most amazing girl. She loves nothing more than a good play in the garden then to come indoors and snuggle up. She sits, rolls over for you to rub her tummy and is so gentle with taking food. She is brilliant with people just unfortunately not with other dogs. As an only family dog, she would be perfect!

Phone 0773 6176613 10am-6pm for more information.

CLIFFORD - Cross breed, neutered male, 12 months approx, medium size.

Image

Clifford is an active boy who loves everyone. He is fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. Katie thinks there Clifford could be Dalmation and Staffie cross. We are not sure what he is like with cats but he has been wonderful with seven other dogs although he can become a bully if left unsupervised with other dogs. He spent half term with a 15 year old girl who has been walking him at weekends. He is fab with Katies young niece. Good with food and off lead but his lead work could do with improvement.

Phone 0773 6176613 10am-6pm for more information.

Cliff's MARSHA - Lurcher, neutered female, 15 months approx, medium size.

Image

Marsha is a beautiful, affectionate young dog, very sociable with other dogs and people. She is very playful and athletic. She loves to run and will need space to run. She does not appear to have had any obedience training but she should respond well to training classes. She is good when walking on the lead, although very nervous in traffic. She would suit an active family with older children and another companion dog, although she would be fine as an only pet.

Fostered with Cliff and Anne near Blandford Forum.
