Throughout the UK there are lovely, problem-free dogs that have waited so long for a home only because they are regarded as "too old".
Often they will be no more than middle-aged. Dogs can live between 12 and 16 years and sometimes much longer. Although they take longer to home the homings are usually very sucessful because mature dogs are rarely any trouble. This thread is for all rescues looking for a home for their golden oldies. |

TITCH ![]() 13 Year Young JRT Titch has come to teckels to seek his retirement home after his devoted 93 year young older went to hospital for major surgery and admited he wouldnt be able to offer Titch all he needs during his recovery time. Young at heart and full of beans, Titch has a lot of love and fun to offer. At Teckels we appreciate that many are often put off offering their homes and hearts to our elderly canine friends for fear of ever growing vet bills, for this reason, for this perfect little lad, we are seeking a perminant foster home, one where he can be the only pet and not have to share his new family with young children and one where her family can relax knowing we will cover any vet care needed. If you feel you would like to know more, please call Joan at the sanctuary for a chat and an invitation to meet our most senior little man, 01452 740300 |

Angie is an 11 yr old Jack Russell / King Charles Spaniel mix, to us she looks JR X Collie, however she is a dear smaller side of medium dog, she was one of three dogs (the others were Jack Russells ) whose owner has died. Another rescue took the other two leaving this wee pensioner in kennels all by herself
Angie is a very active wee girl who loves going for walks, she is not ready to sit by a fire just yet, although in between being out and about this would be quite nice. Could you be this wee lasses soul mate. -------------------- Second Chance Kennels, Fife, Scotland

NIX
![]() ![]() with a pal ![]() ![]() Nix* is 12 years old. The poor chap has had a hard life from a pup, at 9 months he was hit by a speeding car & dragged down the road - this resulted in him loosing a front leg. Nix trhought he was lucky to have an owner. I'm not sure I agree, he seems to have had a tough life. He has been plagued by a flea allergy caused by poor husbandry, he has a bald patch on his back. Also spent a large chunk of his life roaming the streets. Then to cap it all his owner went and got himself into BIG trouble, and sent off to one of Her Majesty's Holiday Camps for several years, while poor Nix, who had committed no crime, was left homeless. Not one of his owners relatives was prepared to keep him, & a one way trip to the vets was arranged. Nix is a lovely friendly old Gent, seems fit & healthy, but does have aslight heart murmour. He is great with other dogs. House trained. All potential adopters will be homevetted and be expected to travel to Kidwelly, S.Wales to meet/adopt this gorgeous boy If you are interested in Nix please send your enquiries, telling us all about yourselves and the lifestyle you are offering to; rehoming.lizziesbarn@googlemail.com or telephone Fionna on 07976 538588 or Olga on 07954 137761 * Name changed because it is not politically correct -------------------- Lizzie's Barn Animal Sanctuary

Debbie & Best 10 year old lurcher girls who must stay together! VET CARE FUNDED FOR LIFE BY GREYHOUND GAP
We are looking to find a very special home for Debbie & Best without other dogs where they can remain together. These girls are so well bonded and Best (Black and Tan) is quite a nervous girl but gets her confidence from following Debbie's lead.(White and Fawn) Greyhound Gap will remain responsible FOR ALL VETERINARY TREATMENT FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE GIRLS LIVES. ![]() The girls came to us from a cruelty situation. They were being kept locked in a conservatory and only had mouldy food and no water at time of being taken. Both girls are adorable. Debbie is a real people dog and gives you a full lip grin when you go to the kennel. Best is a bit more reserved and shy but soon comes round giving tail wags, licks and cuddles. We are looking for a home without other dogs as Debbie can be a little protective over Best, she constantly reassures her and it helps Best to come forward and ask for cuddles. However, as Best is wary of other dogs Debbie will give them a warning growl and a chase away to keep them away from Best when she is visibly frightened. The girls have been together for 10 years and they are all each other has known. Although both Debbie and Best are good with children we feel a home with older children preferably teenagers will be the most suitable. Debbie will like a active family live and I am sure Best will settle and enjoy it to but somewhere not to mad with to much noise or loud playing. The girls are NOT cat friendly. Debbie and Best are not the greatest travellers, as they have not been taken out its guestimated for the last 5-6 years they can be quite anxious and travel sick. This is something that will need to be worked on gradually and we are even willing after a succesful meeting at the kennels if necessary to bring them safely to their new home in the rescue van. Debbie and Best are vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, microchipped and spayed and have been health checked. Debbie does have a lump and bump that we will be checking out this week, fingers crossed its nothing to worry about but if it needs dealing with as stated Gap will be taking care of it and any of either of their medical needs in the future. The girls are currently in the kennels in Stoke on Trent and we are keen to get them out into a home environment asap! If you are interested in offering the girls a home or foster home please in the first instance fill out our pre adoption questionaire on the link below.... http://www.greyhoundgap.com/homing-a-adopt...n-questionnaire ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -------------------- Greyhound Gap
