Throughout the UK there are lovely, problem-free dogs that have waited so long for a home only because they are regarded as "too old".
Often they will be no more than middle-aged. Dogs can live between 12 and 16 years and sometimes much longer. Although they take longer to home the homings are usually very sucessful because mature dogs are rarely any trouble. This thread is for all rescues looking for a home for their golden oldies. |

TITCH ![]() 13 Year Young JRT Titch has come to teckels to seek his retirement home after his devoted 93 year young older went to hospital for major surgery and admited he wouldnt be able to offer Titch all he needs during his recovery time. Young at heart and full of beans, Titch has a lot of love and fun to offer. At Teckels we appreciate that many are often put off offering their homes and hearts to our elderly canine friends for fear of ever growing vet bills, for this reason, for this perfect little lad, we are seeking a perminant foster home, one where he can be the only pet and not have to share his new family with young children and one where her family can relax knowing we will cover any vet care needed. If you feel you would like to know more, please call Joan at the sanctuary for a chat and an invitation to meet our most senior little man, 01452 740300 |

Angie is an 11 yr old Jack Russell / King Charles Spaniel mix, to us she looks JR X Collie, however she is a dear smaller side of medium dog, she was one of three dogs (the others were Jack Russells ) whose owner has died. Another rescue took the other two leaving this wee pensioner in kennels all by herself
Angie is a very active wee girl who loves going for walks, she is not ready to sit by a fire just yet, although in between being out and about this would be quite nice. Could you be this wee lasses soul mate. -------------------- Second Chance Kennels, Fife, Scotland

NIX
![]() ![]() with a pal ![]() ![]() Nix* is 12 years old. The poor chap has had a hard life from a pup, at 9 months he was hit by a speeding car & dragged down the road - this resulted in him loosing a front leg. Nix trhought he was lucky to have an owner. I'm not sure I agree, he seems to have had a tough life. He has been plagued by a flea allergy caused by poor husbandry, he has a bald patch on his back. Also spent a large chunk of his life roaming the streets. Then to cap it all his owner went and got himself into BIG trouble, and sent off to one of Her Majesty's Holiday Camps for several years, while poor Nix, who had committed no crime, was left homeless. Not one of his owners relatives was prepared to keep him, & a one way trip to the vets was arranged. Nix is a lovely friendly old Gent, seems fit & healthy, but does have aslight heart murmour. He is great with other dogs. House trained. All potential adopters will be homevetted and be expected to travel to Kidwelly, S.Wales to meet/adopt this gorgeous boy If you are interested in Nix please send your enquiries, telling us all about yourselves and the lifestyle you are offering to; rehoming.lizziesbarn@googlemail.com or telephone Fionna on 07976 538588 or Olga on 07954 137761 * Name changed because it is not politically correct -------------------- Lizzie's Barn Animal Sanctuary

Lucia is a happy, fun, sweet and, of course friendly, 9 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier who is ready to spend the rest of her life with her new family. Lucia has nothing but love and friendliness to spread around to everyone she meets! Anyone would love her right away because Lucia loves everybody she meets and we know she'll love you too! Lucia is looking for a new home through no fault of her own, she is still lively and likes to play. Lucia currently lives with 2 other dogs with no problems, but she does prefer human company so would be happy as an only dog. She does not like loud bangs and will attempt to hide if fireworks or the like are going off, but with time a little patience and the help of the Sounds Therapy CD, Lucia should find next bonfire season a mite less frightening. She will only be rehomed with children over 8 years age as she is a very lively dog who could easily knock a younger child over. If you think that you could offer Lucia a caring new home and would like to visit her please telephone 07050 264 531 (ansaphone), leaving a message with your contact details for Gail or send her an email not forgetting to include a contact telephone number to office@rspca-tameside-glossop.org.uk. -------------------- Over 1.4m phone calls, only 328 inspectors

Larger image Bonnie is an 8 year old border collie cross who has come to the branch from RSPCA Bury and Oldham to try to find a new home in Tameside or Glossop. She is a very sweet older, sensible dog who now needs a home where there will be someone around most of the time as she loves people so much she gets very sad if she is left alone. If you think that you could offer Bonnie a caring new home and would like to visit her please telephone 07050 264 531 (ansaphone), leaving a message with your contact details for Joyce or send her an email to office@rspca-tameside-glossop.org.uk -------------------- Over 1.4m phone calls, only 328 inspectors
