For some reason I cannot post photos - but links to videos and our facebook page has loads. x

Sharing of George's profile so far, just in case that special person is out there for him, please share George fans - xxx
George - Yorkshire Terrier - 6 years old approx
George must be one of the most neglected broken dog we have taken into our care for a long time and that includes some of the terrible cases from Spain. George came into our care when we were contacted by a plea on the internet about a neglected Yorkie in Oxford a neighbour had seen a dog in terrible condition from her bedroom window and reported to the RSPCA a more local rescue had attended the property but nobody could get near George, mattered and fearful he would not let anyone near him not even the owners. It was reported that the outcome for George because of his fear aggression would be that he would probably be put down we had seen pictures but nothing prepared us for the reality of neglect and brokenness of him that day please see video below of the day he arrived. He has been reported to RSPCA and an Inspector did visit us and George but they are not confident anything can be done.
The day he arrived barely able to walk with his coat and nails.

He was taken straight to our vets where he spent a couple of days he had to be sedated to remove his coat and clip his nails, we also decided that to save added stress for him we would neuter him at the same time, his teeth were checked and not too bad just some plaque removed.

First days

Our first break through came when his foster daddy came home from work

Putting that scary lead on you can tell he is expecting the worse, he is now on a collar on lead

With the cats

George is in a family foster home with two teenagers, two cats and two dogs not ideal for such a broken, traumatized little soul but we were his only option, an experienced foster home they let George have his space, he did not interact for two days he would just laid trembling in his bed and growling if anyone approached but slowly in the first week he started relaxing and trying to trust and each day he changed and did something new. We have documented each day as he progressed. A brave little soul even putting a lead on was stressful but he so badly wanted to go out for a walk but he physically shudders as the lead goes over his neck waiting to be hurt but trusting I wont, he will better when he can wear a harness but it will take too much handling and he is not trusting enough for that. Nearly everything is a challenge for him even steps, getting in the car, going out for a walk, putting the lead on, but he each day surprises us with his big heart. He has met strangers coming to the house and will greet them but then retreats into another room to keep out the way, he would not be suitable with visiting children.

Out walking

Cheekiness coming out

Greeting friend

At times he looks normal in these videos but he has a lot of time when he just wants to be on his own and does not want to be approached and will growl to let you know although this is coming fewer, its essential the home he eventually goes to understands his need for space and calm and will not rush him, we believe the right home for him at this stage will be with one or two people, he could easily live with cats and we know in his last home there was a cat there and he has been fine with the cats in the foster home, he has also been fine with the dogs but is very in different to them and gets worried when they get excited about food etc and we believe he would do best as an only dog, someone who is experienced with terriers and dogs that have suffered abused like this, not a busy house with lots of people visiting - that one in a million home that wants to help a dog like George, what you will get back from George will be amazing as he progresses he is a brave little dog and a pleasure to help and he will stay with us as long as it takes to find that right match for him.
George is neutered, had his booster, chipped etc - please email at starfishdogrescue@hotmail.co.uk for our questionnaire if you feel you are the right home for him.

Well done! He has come on so well I do hope he will not have to wait too long before someone comes forward to make an offer.
