Henry is a largish, tri colour, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

He is possibly 7-8 years old, has a slight heart murmur and stiffish back legs!!
We will have full details once he has seen the vet and had a full health check.

Henry has been for a fairly long but slow paced off lead walk today and has been fine,
Thoroughly enjoying himself over the fields. He is a bit overweight which won't be helping
His legs but with a careful diet and gentle exercise this should improve.

Henry is such a sweetie. He does his best to do what you ask him to. He can sit, comes
When called and his recall is good. He is not overpowering and due to his stiff back legs
Can't get on the furniture. If you lift him up to sit beside you though he loves it and will happily
Sit next to you for sometime with his head in your lap.

He is crate trained so that's where he sleeps at night. He gets on with other dogs, doesn't bark unless
There is a reason to like the door bell or if he hears another dog barking he will answer with small
amount of woofing from him! He is good on the lead and just loves his food.

He likes children although as he is getting older a home without any young ones would be better as
He doesn't need to be jumped on or pulled about etc.

He can be left on his own for short periods but need would like a home with someone at home for most
Of the day or older people who possibly are retired but sprightly.

Henry will be neutered, have his first vaccination and be micro chip before he is rehomed.
He will also have a full vet assessment and this information will be passed on to potential adopters.

Donation will apply on adoption. Homechecks will be carried out.

Sadly when Henry went to the vets for his assessment he was found to have a problem with his heart and what we think is arthritis in his back legs. He is receiving all the medical care he needs at the moment and once we have him sorted he will be available for rehoming.

It is highly probable that Henry will need medication for the rest of his life, so please think about the implications of this before applying to adopt him.

Henry is being well looked after by the vets and of course his foster mum.

We will update this information as soon as we have more news. We will hold any applications for Henry until he is well again.

Henry is a largish, tri-colour, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He is possibly 7 to 8 years old and has a heart murmur with arthritis in his back and legs, none of which stops Henry being a happy go lucky chap who loves company and lots of love. He is not overpowering and due to his stiff back legs can't get on the furniture. If you lift him up to sit beside you though, he loves it and will happily sit next to you for some time with his head in your lap.

Henry is such a sweetie and particularly loves his walks, he gets very excited when he recognises the signs we're getting ready to go out. You would think he is a puppy, he pants, cries and bounces with excitement. When out on a walks Henry thoroughly enjoys himself over the fields and very impressively keeps up with the two pups, not galloping and rolling around, but at a more sedate pace bringing up the rear. He is sensible and takes his smoke breaks as I call them. His recall is great and he is very friendly to all dogs. Given his stiff back legs he will chastise the puppies and any other dogs if they jump on his back. Also when lifting him in and out of the car, I am careful support him under front and back legs equally, if you get it wrong he will yelp with pain.

He is crate trained and is currently fed in his crate as we have three dogs. He quickly settled into the routine, if you tell him Bed Bed, he will trot into the crate and sit and wait for his food. He gets on with other the two pups really well and equally with other dogs he meets while he is out. He doesn't bark unless there is a reason to, like the door bell or if he hears another dog barking he will answer with small amount of woofing! He is good on the lead and just loves his food and generally does his best to do what you ask him to. He can sit, although lying down is more comfortable for him.

He loves children and is drawn to them when we are out happily strolling over to a class of seven year olds on field trip. As he is getting older, a home without any very young children would be better as he doesn't need to be jumped on or pulled about etc. Henry can live with confident cats, as given the chance he will chase cats and woof at them, but when he did corner one our cats he seems confused and did not know what to do next.

He can be left on his own for short periods, but would like a home with someone at home for most of the day or older people who possibly are retired but spritely. He can live as the only dog or with other dogs, given his age he will like to assert himself as the top dog.

Henry will be neutered, have his first vaccination and be micro-chipped before he is re-homed. The Vets are really pleased with his progress, he has settled well on his medication, he has lost 2 kgs and his heart rate is back to an acceptable level. Henry will need medication for the rest of his life, so please think about the implications of this before applying to adopt him. His full vet assessment and list of medications will be passed on to potential adopters.

Henry is happy with short or long leisurely walks any where from 30mins upwards. The focus had been on his weight loss, so he has typically been for longer walks, but as the vets are happy with his current weight, they are no longer necessary. But he does love to have a run around and his recall is very good. The key will be to monitor his weight and adjust his excercise accordingly. Henry knows his own limits and will take a rest as he needs one.

Hope this helps Donna
