Lady is an approximately 3 year old saluki/lurcher and is currently on foster in Aberdare, Mid Glamorgan.
The Lady Fact File Dog status: Good Cat status: Will not to be rehomed with cats or small animals Child status: Very good House training: Coming along nicely for a girl who has not lived indoors before Home alone: Can be left without humans for a few hours but has always had canine company in her foster home Basic training: Very intelligent and like to learn. Knows sit, No, wait and come and is beginning work on paw and down. Walks nicely on lead. ![]() Lady is a stealer of hearts. She is such a sweet natured and loving dog, all who meet her cannot help but fall under her spell. Lady has settled in very well with her foster family including (and especially!) the three children. She has been very well behaved with the kids and has even enjoyed being tucked in to her bed under a blanket by her special little pal. Lady has not had the best start in life and we do not think she has lived in a home environment before coming in to Hope's care. This means that her house training just beginning and will need further commitment and work in a new adoptive home. She has taken the lead from her foster brother and will largely go outside. She does however have the odd accident as she has yet to learn to ask to go out when she needs to but this will come in time. Lady would be best suited to a new home where there is another dog for company who can help to build her confidence but she may possibly be able to be rehomed as a single dog if she has a lot if human company and an experienced new owner. Lady gets along beautifully with Cody her foster brother (she will give hm a grumble if tries to take her chew but she needs to keep that young whipper snapper in his place). Lady will not be rehomed with cats and small animals. ![]() Lady can become frustrated and excited when she sees dogs out on the lead. This shows itself with jumping around and acting the loon with a bit of a bark. It is not unusual for sighthounds to express excitement in this way but it will require a little bit of work and training in her new home. Lady largely walks nicely on the lead and is a bright and willing learner. She already has a good grasp of basic commands and is learning more all the time. She will wait politely to be told to eat and will not dive in to her foster brother's food bowl. There are times when Lady can be a little overwhelmed with her recent change in lifestyle from outdoor dog to being the centre of a busy family. However, she is such an incredible dog she has handled things beautifully. If things get too much she will just find a quiet corner for a lie down and observe the comings and goings. Lady has not been left for long periods on her own as she has not been with her foster family for long and they have been building things gradually for her. She has always had her canine foster brother for company when left and has not seemed distressed. Lady will not be rehomed until she has been neutered in a couple of week however she can be reserved and all rehoming procedures organised beforehand such as home check. All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered (if over 6 months), vaccinated, flea treated, wormed and micro-chipped prior to adoption. If a puppy is not old enough to be neutered then this must be carried out at the owner’s expense when old enough, and the relevant form completed by the vet and returned to Hope Rescue. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK. A Pre-Home Interest Form can be downloaded from www.hoperescue.org.uk and should be returned to dogs@hoperescue.org.uk -------------------- Kat

Well we have come away to Sussex to visit family, and we can now safely say that Lady travels well in the car for long distances, as we were travelling for over four hours. We only had one leg stretch break, and the rest of the time she snuggled down and slept. What a star.
She has met the houseful of strangers more than happily, and has stayed with Mum and Dad while we have taken the children out this morning. ![]() She loved the beach - a first for her we assume, but ran into the sea without really realising as she was chasing a seagull, and came back not very happy, soaking wet and shivering. ![]() She has learned some new tricks this week, and major breakthrough last night in that she attracted my attention by making noises outside the bedroom door, went straight out the back and did a number one AND two outside!! Proud foster parents!! Anyway time for some more photos!! Cody and I love to play ![]() Then we like to sleep like book ends ![]() I like a cuddle... ![]() Or a fleecy blanket will do ![]() I am a good girl and will sit and wait for a treat ![]() -------------------- Kat

Lady has now been spayed and has recovered well and attended a Meet and Greet at the weekend where it was confirmed … yup she is very beautiful!
She hasn’t been tested with cats but is very interested in squirrels! Oh and no more accidents in the house for a couple of weeks so housetrained and gorgeous … but still no interest! -------------------- Kat

She has been up Pen y Fan ![]() Revisited the beach in Sussex ![]() Been on lots of walks ![]() Attended Meet and Greets ![]() and slept...lots... ![]() -------------------- Kat
