Rocky is a 9/10 year old Crossbreed and is currently on foster in Caerphilly.
The Rocky Fact File Dog status: Very good Cat status: Best rehomed without cats Child status: Could be rehomed with children aged 8 years plus who are used to dogs House training: Perfect Home alone: Has been left for a couple of hours and been happy. Not suitable for full time worker as he does love people and company. Basic training: Knows sit and off, good recall and walks nicely on the lead with harness. Bright and eager to please. ![]() Rocky is an easy dog to look after and an easy dog to love. Adaptable, friendly, charming and full of character he would settle in well to many types of home. Rocky is good with other dogs and could be rehomed into an existing pack or as a single dog. With his foster home he has been living with two canine companions and also met dogs on walks and has been fine with all of them. However, while not meaning to, he could cause trouble as in the park he is the dog likely to steal another dog’s ball! He has not been living in foster with cats but has shown a lot of excitement and interest when he sees them out on walks so he would be best rehomed without feline company. Rocky loves people and has been friendly and charming with everyone he has met. He has been assessed in an adult only foster home so has not been living with children. However, due to his sunny, laid back personality we feel he may be able to live with children over the age of 8 years following successful meetings with them. Rocky already knows some of the basic commands and has been introduced to clicker training by his foster carer and is bright and eager to please. He walks nicely on the lead when he is walked on a harness and has shown he has good recall so far although this has not been tested with high level distractions as his foster home have understandably been careful. Rocky adores people and there is a risk he could become a little clingy. He has been through the stress of coming in to rescue and although he has settled well in his foster home there will naturally be another upheavel and change when he moves to his forever home. There is a risk he could become clingy with a new owner and care willl have to be taken to gradually leave him alone and not allow him to become too over dependent. Rocky can open doors to be back with the humans he is bonded with and will need a secure home and garden. He will not be rehomed with full time workers but would suit a part time worker or someone who is home for the best part of the day. Despite his age, he is still fit, lively and playful. He needs a reasonable walk once a day and perhaps just a quick last thing at night walk. You can take him pretty much anywhere with no problems as he is well socialised. He showed some upset when travelling at first but this is much improved now he has realised going in the car usually equals a fun new walk to explore. He may have been fed a lot of human food in the past and was trying a bit of a hunger strike when he first arrive in our care. However, with a good quality kibble and some wet food mixed in he is now eating well. All Hope Rescue dogs vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Here are some more photos of the lovely Rocky
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And here is a little video ![]() He is a lovely boy and has slotted in really well. Him and Bella my border collie play together and share a crate when travelling. Despite being an older boy, he doesn't show it. He loves going for a run and playing. He will also settle nicely when you just need him to chill though. |

Rocky has continued to be a little star
He is now much more relaxed and less clingy after settling in and now feeling secure. He sleeps downstairs in a crate all night without a peep On one of our walks there was a group of 21 dogs at one point He is undemanding. Will play, have a cuddle, go for a walk with great glee, but also just chill and sleep when you need him to |

Rocky looks so much like my old dog "Tyke", who has been such a wonderful companion. Goodness knows what is in the mix - collie, spaniel, terrier, lab, but it seems to gel really well.
Can't believe that someone would leave a dog like this in the pound. |

The longer Rocky is with me, the more I wonder about how he ended up in the pound
He is no trouble and the best behaved of the three dogs that are currently residing here |

Rocky
... has a very soft, strokable coat, really silky ... fits perfectly on your lap, where he likes to be ... gives lovely kisses if he feels you might like some ... smells sweet ... is courteous and respectful when he meets you, and sits nicely, waiting for attention ... happily shares treats with other dogs ... loves attention ... loves to play with toys ... makes the cutest sounds all the time. You could certainly go through the day having little 'chats' with him, as he's so vocal and responsive. ... is in lovely physical shape. He is well muscled, and agile. You'd never guess he was 9 years old, except for the white fur around his eyes. ... is very sweet and playful with the young collie girl he is living with. So if you are thining he won't be a good companion to your younger dog, think again. Every home should have a Rocky This post has been edited by rosiemongrel: 6th Feb 2012, 6:18 pm |

Very sadly for Rocky, his foster brother didn't like him, so he's now in foster in Caerphilly.
Poor Rocky didn't do anything wrong and we are very sad not to have this cuddly, happy, funny boy in the house any more Rocky has been on walks where we have been in among up to 21 dogs at any one time and he has been fine |
