My elderly Mum lost Ollie Dog a couple of months ago
He was a German Spitz adopted from TLDR two years earlier. She now is looking for a new friend, but has decided that a ''toy'' size dog would be practical for her. A bit about mum She is in her eighties Has severe Arthritis Can manage short walks with the aid of a stick Only visitors are adults Has a courtyard type garden Cannot really travel because of her Arthritis Lives in Swindon Wiltshire. She likes longer coated Pedigree Dogs and has mentioned LC Chihuahua Small Yorkie Pomeranion Papillon Toy Poodle (But she only likes black ones) She is ideally hoping for a dog around eight years old She would be happy enough to take two if they were a bonded pair She rarely goes out apart from shopping every few weeks so would provide constant company for her new friend. Does that mean she couldnt travel to meet a new dog?
Could she travel in Wilts or to surrounding counties? |

She really is not up to travelling any distance from a comfort and phobia point of view I am not really sure how far she could travel as she has not travelled more than a few miles from home for many years. |

you could contact
http://www.yorkieandtoybreedrescue.co.uk/adopting.html They have foster homes all over. Some rescues can be flexible about visiting the dog. You would need to ask. |

Holly Hedge near Bristol have a trio(!) of chihuahuas aged 7 and 8. No picture yet, so don't know whether they are long coated.

Ideally I think she is looking for a very small one as she hopes that she would be able to groom it on her knee or a chair as well as put the lead on it. She did find it quite hard to bend down to Ollie as she needs her stick to balance. The idea is that she can train to climb up or be able to lift it whilst she is sitting down. Sorry for saying ''it'' all the time |
