Since Dogpages began nine years ago, any number of commercial sites and businesses have sprung up seeking to profit from dog rescue. Dogpages remains a non-commercial site run solely by volunteers. You won't find any profit-making adverts here and users of our forums won't find their details collected and sold on for marketing purposes. We hope you agree with us and support us in our belief that rescue animals should not be seen as a marketing opportunity or a source of profit. And we hope you enjoy the difference.

Aside from signing the petition we could do what a friend of mine has done...email the tourist office. Please see below emails. I have taken out my friends email address for obvious reasons.

Dear Gillian,

Thank you so much for forwarding this important message. This is a very good idea. If we could get a lot of people to write to the tourism officials, like you have done, and they understand that the killing of Majlo can inflict on the country’s tourism, there might be a chance that he can be saved. I will get this information on Majlo’s website. Thanks a lot for contacting me about this!

Kind regards,
Jenny Rolness

Hi

I have signed the Care 2 Causes petition for Majlo but as the people being targeted to sign it are from all over the world it struck me that the Norwegian tourism officials may be able to influence their police colleagues. I have sent the message under - others may wish to do the same but please do not publish my email address on your website. Thanks.

Subject: Incoming Tourism to Norway being put at risk

For the attention of the Government minister responsible for Incoming Tourism to Norway

Good Afternoon,

This morning I was alerted to the plight of a Swedish family which had moved, with their pet dog Majlo, to work & live in Norway. Unfortunately, they were not aware that Majlo's breed type, perfectly legal in Sweden, is banned in your country.

The Norwegian Tourist Industry could suffer quite a serious and unnecessary reduction in numbers of foreign visitors if this poor dog were to lose his life. Why cannot common sense prevail and the dog be released to his owners to return to Norway?

My family have visited Norway and spoken very highly to others of your country but foreign dog lovers like myself are not going to recommend or visit a country whose police department is being so vexatious over an innocent pet.

I hope that your ministry responsible for tourism will wish to bring a common sense influence to this wretched situation see:- http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/free-majlo

This part is wrong "Why cannot common sense prevail and the dog be released to his owners to return to Norway?" I should be to return to Sweden where they originated from.
