Since Dogpages began nine years ago, any number of commercial sites and businesses have sprung up seeking to profit from dog rescue. Dogpages remains a non-commercial site run solely by volunteers. You won't find any profit-making adverts here and users of our forums won't find their details collected and sold on for marketing purposes. We hope you agree with us and support us in our belief that rescue animals should not be seen as a marketing opportunity or a source of profit. And we hope you enjoy the difference.

Hi my name is Gay.
I have lost my beatiful Sheltie Princess,. She got spooked and ran off on 22nd May 2008 on Roseberry golf course. Grange villa, Chester le st Co Durham.

I would appreciate any help however small as I am desperate to find her. We had a possible sighting 2 weeks ago at Newfield and then possible Grange villa but unfortunately not definite.

Gay

sad.gif How awful for you. I presume you have put out lots of posters and fliers, and contacted all the rescues and dog wardens in the area. Have you advertised in the local press offering a reward and have you been on the other website where there are folk from all over the country who offer advice?
And of course local vets should be contacted in case a 'new' owner brings her in. If anyone contact you with a sighting have you given them advice as to how best to encourage her to come, shelties are often very wary aren't they and need to be treated with extreme gentleness when frightened. Thinking of you lots and wishing her back home. Kepp safe little one wub.gif

Hi Sheltiesfriend,

Yeah have done all this to no avail. She is going to be feral by now and is very unlikely to go to anyone. all I need is a positive sighting and someone to tell me straight away I know she wouldnt come straight away but I can be very patient I want her back and am looking forward to the day I can bring her home.

There was a sighting of a similar dog in Leeds last weekend and the girl that saw he/she has put posters up in the area for me. So hoping that another sighting will be soon. It may have just been a dog that got out and is back home now but I cant discount the dog until I know for sure. I cant find any reports of missing shelties or small rough collies down there. This is the posting:

Leeds Halton: I have just seen a young stray lookin very frightened and limping... He/she ran away from me! Looked similar to lassie but younger, the hair was beige but long and brushed - she looked like she is loved! she was clean and may have only been a stray for a few days! She was running up Hollyshaw lane, LS15 in Halton Leeds but I lost her near the main road although I did look around I think she went to hide in a garden mayb! She had no road sence....... Hope her/his owner reads this and is able to find her/him!!

If anyone lives in Leeds I would be very grateful for help ie asking in the area if anyone knows if a sheltie or collie is missing or if anyone has one that escaped and is back home. I have contacted the dog warden rspca and Kennels and they are keeping an eye out.

Hi, I live in Wakefield which is not far from Leeds but doesn't help you too much.

I work in the centre of Leeds but I know a girl on another doggie forum who I think lives very close to your area. Will try and get in touch with her tonight.

Good luck in finding your girl.

No news I'm afraid. Though the woods are looking a bit bare now so if she is hiding she is more likely to be seen. So am going to get some more posters laminated and put out next week. Am away working this weekend so cant unforunately do it before then.
