I used to buy flea treatments online but just looked up a few sites and they all say a prescription is required to purchase Advocate or Frontline?

Is this a new thing?

Is it available anywhere without prescription and if not, how does it work - or is it just less hassle to buy it from the vet?

I think advocate needs a prescription, but frontline you can buy online. I have had no trouble buying frontline. I think I got it from vetmedic.

Well I looked up frontline too (though not scoured every site yet) and a few definitely said Prescription Required.

Where do you buy yours from?
Just saw your edit, I'll have a look there, thanks

I buy normal frontline from vetuk but go via the beastlybeasts website as they get 5% comission and donate it to greyhound and lurcher rescues and charities.

Again no prescription for normal frontline but it doesn't mention combi, however it did used to so perhaps this is a new thing

We have an affiliate with Vet UK for each sale they donate to Gap. Ive just looked via our link and it seems that Frontline Combi needs a prescription Amber but normal Frontline doesnt smile.gif

Thought it may be of interest re Advocate, don't think you have to join to read it.

Frontline is available without prescription. There are plenty of online sites offeing discounts.

Advocate does require a prescription or to be prescribed by a vet.r

I believe Advocate contain Invermectin which Collies should not be given - they can't break it down and can cause serious harm. I don't know if FrontLine Combi does. If it does, that would perhaps explain the need for a prescription.
