Poppy - Yorkshire Terrier Bitch - 9 years old.

Lovely Poppy came into care recently under sad circumstances - she had been living with her family for 4 years which consisted of children, cats and dogs. Unfortunately the family terrier turned on Poppy after a disagreement and with Poppy being so tiny she ended up nearly dying from the attack and was rushed to our vets - the family loved her but knew for her own safety she could not be brought home. Previously Poppy had been used as a breeding dog so we must make this her last and forever home.
Poppy has gone into a family foster home as an only dog she was very shaken up to begin with with combination of being in pain, the shock from the attack and being in a new environment. But slowly as the days wore on and she started to settle the real little Poppy started to come out.
Poppy is very sweet natured little girl, very loving and loves to sit with you but unsure at times too so will quickly run to her bed and go upside down for a gentle tummy rub and reassurance.

Her foster mummy Aunty Sarah has started taking her out for gentle walks and she walks lovely on a lead and loved it, her little tail was wagging, she got barked at by a couple of terriers while out and like a good girl completely ignored them.

She travels fine in the car and is completely house trained. Her foster mummy works from home a lot and Poppy will just take herself off to find a comfy bed somewhere and sleep. At night she has been sleeping in her bed in their bedroom. She is a very easy dog to have around and live with.
The type of home we are looking for this lovely little girl is a quiet home like her, someone who is happy to take her for walks (but not if its raining she does not like it she said) and wants a loving companion. She will need to be an only dog we will not risk her being attacked again, she is fine with other dogs out and about but she wants to be the only Princess now thank you very much she says. She has a lovely nature and no malice in her, she travels in the car fine too.

We would like people who understand grooming breeds too.

She will be spayed, a dental and fully vaccinated before she leaves us as well as being chipped, fleaed & wormed. She has recovered from her attack but obviously will take time for the hair around her head area to grow back.

If you feel you are the right match for our lovely girl please email us at starfishdogrescue@hotmail.co.uk
