Like ebd this is a post that I really haven't been wanting to write.

Last night I had to make the decision to let my beautiful gentle girl Holly head to the bridge to meet her Mum, Auntie and brothers, she was a month shy of her 12th birthday.

Holly was an unexpected early Christmas surprise, along with her 5 brothers, when we found out our dog Flo was pregnant. We had no idea how it happened but it turned out that Dad had let the wrong one off lead as he could never tell them apart!! Holly was number 5 of the 6, the only girl and we had a bit of a fight to get her to breathe properly. She soon gained strength and I wanted to keep her from the moment she was 30 minutes old.

She's had her fair share of illness woes, liver cirrhosis which she bounced back from, thrombocytopenia which she has beaten and didn't relapse from but she started to go off her food in June.We checked it wasn't a recurrence of the above but come September and collapsing on holiday and refusing food we went back and got xrays etc which confirmed she had a tumour on her spleen. Due to family history (3 brothers lost to tumours) we decided against surgery and just to keep her happy and spoilt till the time came.

That time proved to be last night when she started to be in pain and bleeding out. It wasn't fair to keep her going and we let her go very very peacefully to Rainbow Bridge.

I will miss that gentle, big eyed, big hearted girl so much but I know she isn't suffering anymore.

Sleep tight Pickle Pup, you'll be back home with me soon. wub.gif

Pam, I am so very sorry. hug.gif

No, we are never truly prepared for the loss, for that emptiness. Sending a whole raft of empathetic hug.gif your way.

Holly clearly had a tight hold on your heart, and she clearly had a wonderful life with you. I hope that memories of all the good times shared will help you through this sorrow as you come to terms with Holly's loss.

Shine bright, Holly.

I'm so very, very sorry. hug.gif
