People are being told they cant be rehomed if they have a pet. What do they do? Why dont the council consider this when asking the people to move out and make provision for people with pets?

I hadn't heard that but did wonder if some folk were staying because of their animals. If tenants are allowed pets then I think what the council have said is pretty shoddy. err.gif

ETA Camden council spokesperson quoted as saying “Specialist staff are on the ground to assist residents with care needs. Pets are also welcome at both rest centres and hotel accommodation.” dunno.gif

I'd rather live in a cardboard box than a multi story flat but, if I did live there, they'd have to carry me out before I'd move without my pets. Or without my possessions if it comes to that. I doubt they're going to have the block 'guarded' to stop criminals getting in to raid the flats err.gif

Also, if they've found so many properties to house all those poor people who are now homeless and another block full too (not that I begrudge any of them), why do we have so many homeless people on the streets?

What amazes me is that they don't even have details of who were living in the flats that burned out, and only rely on people saying they lived there.

Grenfell tower was not just council housing. there were also private renters, subtenants and homeowners so the council would not have details of these people.

The government has made emergency money available to the councils to use. That money would not be normally be available to the council.

I presume the OP is not talking about Grenfelll tower ( which is in Kensington and Chelsea) but about the Chalcots Estate that was chaotically evacuated last Friday, those who have left will return in 2 to 4 weeks and as far as I can see, provision has been made for pets.

I suppose it depends what the mean by provision, I wouldn't want to put my dogs in kennels, for instance and would need help with the 4 foot tanks the small animals live in.
