Spotted this fellow in rescue and was fairly shocked to find one up for rehoming. It occurred to me that there are probably more dogs out there of breeds that you wouldn't expect to find in general rescue, so I thought a little bit of publicity for them on DP wouldn't hurt, if anybody comes across any more:

Bear is a two year old male Komondor at the Mayflower Sanctuary in Bawtry near Doncaster - not to be rehomed with young children.

I'd love a Pap, but I'm too far away, according to the rescue's rules.

What I want is a fairly common breed in an unusual colour: an isabella (fawn) dobermann. I've only seen one in rescue in 13 years, so the chances are small!

This is mean! I've always wanted a pap, Three Counties are my local rescue and I said my next dog would be small and older. The only thing is, we currently have four and I promised myself I would wait until we only have one or two. I don't want that to be years yet, but ..... but ..... oh my he's gorgeous!

And Niki - nope, I've never seen one either, but if I happen across one I'll let you know.

The rescue I had Quila from are Dobe breeders and, obviously, take in rescue Dobe's too. I don't know if they ever get fawn, but I'll let you know if I see any on their site smile.gif

Ta muchly girls smile.gif I won't be ready for an addition for a couple of years yet but, with the fawns being so uncommon, I'm putting out feelers now! I have one dobe rescue on my FB friends list who have had blues and even a white but never a fawn. But they'll let me know if one pops up!

There's been a papillon in rescue on my facebook feed in the last couple of days. can't remember who it was with, it wasn't that one, it was in in the east midlands. It was with another toy dog.

Oh please don't remind me about the Borzois - so tempted! I've always thought they are so beautiful.

When I first saw the Borzois at Many Tears I did go off into a little daydream about adopting one, as we would be the ideal home with our huge garden and Henry would sooo love another really big sighthound to play with..............

Then I remembered all the practical reasons why another dog (especially another very big dog) would not be ideal.... (and of course my husband would not approve - seeing as he didn't really want to have 3 dogs never mind 4!)

Really suprised they haven't been snapped up more quickly though.

I've certainly seen some more unusual breeds in rescue lately - ones I've never heard of - but I think that has been partly due to some rescues bringing over European dogs - I've seen a Kokoni (Greek domestic dog) and an Appenzeller Sennehund (Swiss farm dog) recently.
