I can see there is a role (sadly) for places like Many Tears and I'm sure the people who run it long for a day when there isn't.

QUOTE(Kanie @ 25th Jun 2017, 10:30 am) *

I might be wading into controversial territory here, but it really gets my goat when breeders use rescues to rehome pups that don't sell, or former breeding dogs who are no longer economically viable to keep. I agree, it's better than being put to sleep, but I would like to see some way of breeders being asked to publish statistics about the number of breeding bitches they keep, the number of litters per year, % unsold puppies and what happens to ex-breeders.

That way, buyers could make their own minds up about whether they wanted to support the trade in puppy farming.

Maybe internet sites that sell puppies should be the ones leading with this and refuse to allow breeders to advertise unless they publish these figures. Recently, there was a case where a couple from Eastern Europe were prosecuted for importing unvaccinated puppies from the continent and the web-based set-up that rhymes with Scumtree put on. great display of hand-wringing and sanctimonious preaching about the importance of doing proper research. The irony is (as I'm sure they know) if people did carry out proper research, nobody would bother with their website smile.gif

It's a good idea but the unscrupulous would just lie.
