He's still fine - no pain, still eating normally etc. Which is weird frankly, but helpful as it means he can hold on until I go back to be operated on smile.gif

What a relief. It's so nice to read about a medical issue that turns out to have a simple and fixable solution.

Update! Fay had his tooth removed last Tuesday. Poor lad was harder hit this time by the GA - it took him til day 3 after the op to get back to normal. But he's ok now.

His face though is still big, and I think bigger and his eye is now weeping a little too. So I think we will be going back to the vet next week. The wound where his tooth was is healing nicely though.

Another update. Face bigger, eye weeping and hurting. We've got two weeks of stronger ABs and metacam and hoping then it's referral time err.gif

This might be a complete red herring, but a friend of mine had a puppy who developed a swollen face and very protruding eye (which I know Faolan hasn't got) his vet tried looking for foreign bodies in the eye and then looked at the teeth, before referring the pup for scans where it turned out she had cranial osteomyelitis, which was an infection in the bone of the skull that had occurred through some sort of trauma.

The vet came up with a few published reports on the condition as it is relatively uncommon and found that it had responded to courses of very strong antibiotics, so his puppy was put on super-strength ones (previously, she'd been given less strong ones and the swelling had gone down and then re-appeared) At no time had she ever appeared to be in pain.

She's fit as a flea now and doing really well.

Thanks very much Kanie, that's something to look into smile.gif If the swelling continues then the pressure on his eye will increase so it may not end up that different to your friend's pup! And the trauma would make sense, given the dying tooth.

Worse again. His muzzle has grown 5mm in circumference in the last two days, and I can now see the swelling protruding into his nostril. His eye is not weeping so much which is good but obviously, growth is not err.gif
