Image POUND PUPPY RESCUE

When Jayne discovered that puppies born in council pounds were being killed because they could not find homes for them she setup Pound Puppy Rescue. Having rescued the puppies she could not leave the hundreds of adult/ancient dogs and cats, and the kittens at the pounds to die just because they did not have a home to go to. Then she found that breeders would kill their rejects so she took those in too. AND then there are the other animals! These pets stay in foster homes looked after by our volunteers in the area around Poole, Bournemouth and Weymouth, Dorset, Andover and Basingstoke, Hants until they find a suitable home. Hundreds of healthy dogs are being killed in the UK every week for want of a home. If you think you can help by fostering a dog or cat, or fund raising or just advertising Pound Puppy Rescue in your local shop please phone 0773 6176613 or 01202 623078. We will home a pet outside Dorset, home checks and circumstances permitting. Phone to check what is required from you.

MAISIE - Labrador cross?, female, 21 months approx, medium size.

Image

Maisie is fantastic with other dogs, cats and any other animals. She is good off lead and thrives on attention. She would make a fantastic pub dog or communal home dog as she welcomes anyone (two legs or four) who comes in to her foster home with a wagging tail and lots of kisses. She is good on the lead although pulls a little, travels well in the car and is fully vaccinated.

Maisie has a congenital portosystemic shunt commonly called a liver shunt where blood flow bypasses the liver so that toxins in the blood are not filtered out by the liver. Click here for more information about liver shunts.

Due to this condition Maisie is not expected to live more than about 6 years. Maisie cannot be neutered due to her liver shunt as there is only a 60% chance that she would survive the anesthetic. She needs a controlled low protein diet and medicine, so whoever takes Maisie on will have to be really special. I want her to have the best life she can have and to be with someone who can do this and cope.

Maisie requires three small meals a day with medication. I am paying £27 for a 5kg bag and about £1 a tin of low protein food. If you have the time, the love and can cope with Maisie's strict diet please give me a ring on 0773 6176613 or 01202 623078.

This dog is in a foster home in Dorset. If you would like more info about this dog, please ring 0773 6176613 between 10 am and 6.30 pm.

We do rehome outside the area, if a suitable home is found.
