We have just been for a weekend camping and yesterday thought scout didn't look right.. He just looked wrong trotting along then realised his lovely curled up tail was hanging all limply between his legs. It either hangs there or sticks out a few inches and drops completely different to his normal tail carriage. Looks like pics on the Internet

Can it maybe be caused by cold and damp?

Opinion seems divided if should have pain killers as v painful and others say not? We do have a range of left over tramadol metacam and previcox from his leg issues (It doesn't feel like something need to rush to the emergency vets with)

He is very quiet but after camping they are always knackered as they dont sleep all day.

He's got a sore in his foot too and he's still on restricted exercise after his fracture and tendon issues .. He was such a good boy camping esp compared to his younger brother but that's another story lol.gif

I hope Scout feels better after a good rest and that his tail rights itself... is "swimmer's tail" a muscular problem or something like pulling a tendon?

Bruno had this after swimming in the sea last year. Never heard of it until then, although up here they call it rudders tail. It took a good 10 days for his tail to be back to normal. Metacam helped though.

It can happen without cold/wet. River had it some years ago after Soli ran full pelt into her from behind. It was painful for her so she did get painkillers, but mostly it was if it got bumped. She was ok otherwise, as far as I recall.
